– Wired to Create

When I read this quote in the book, Wired to Create, I realized a parallel on the concept of “embracing”. Today I’d like to talk about that:

It’s fair to say that I notice many things; and being in a place that is filled with novelty I catch myself reflecting on what was and what is.

Back home, the opportunity of meeting new people carried less weight than it does today. Simply because I already had a network of close friends with whom I spent my time.

In Boston, that isn’t the case. And as I embark on meeting new people and building relationships (that I hope will turn into deep friendships), I am analyzing my process.

Authenticity is a word that has been used by others to describe their first interactions with me, and now I understand why.

I am me. Purely, simply, and unconditionally me when I meet others; which means I approach them with curiosity, respect and love.

In the process of exchanging questions and stories, the degree of vulnerability I am willing to show dictates how they will open up to me. By embracing myself completley, I give others the permission to do the same.

And the type of connection that we create is truly amazing.

Additionaly, I would like to clarify that being vulnerable isn’t synonmous with naive, or pouring out your heart and life secrets – rather being vulnerable is about  presenting yourself with integrity, honesty and authenticity: being vulnerable is about expressing exaclty who you are – as messy and complicated as that may be.
